What real plants can I use?
There are a number of real plants which will grow successfully in a biOrb. Due to the high oxygenation levels, which are required for the fish and biological filtration, there isn't always enough CO2 for plants.These plants have been grown very successfully in the biOrb range of aquariums:
- Elodea densa (goldfish weed)
- Cabomba aquatica
- Vallisneria
- Java fern
- Crypotocornes
We would always recommend you buy a good brand of real plants, brands such as Tropica.
You will not need to change the ceramic media to keep real live plants in a biOrb. Take the plants out of the pots and plant directly into the ceramic media, the roots of the plants will naturally attach themselves to the ceramic media.
