Unsuitable Community Fish

Some tropical fish can be very territorial making them unsuitable if you want to keep a variety of different fish together in one aquarium.

Below is a list of fish we would not recommend you keep with any other fish.
Serpae Tetra (Hyphessobrycon Hybrid)
These are fin nippers and should not be included in a community aquarium. They also should be kept in large numbers to ensure they don't attack each other.

Angelfish (Pterophyllum hydrid)
Angelfish can prey on smaller fish and have even been known to attack fish as big as Neon Tetras. Adults are best kept either singly or in mated pairs.

Three-Spot Gourami (Trichogaster trichopterus)
Males can be very territorial and will chase other gouramis. Three-Spot Gouramis are also fin nippers and should not be kept with any fish that has large fins, such as guppies, bettas or angelfish.

Chinese Algae Eater (Gyrinocheilus aymonieri)
Juveniles are often sold in local fish stores with the promise that they will keep algae down however when half grown they become very agressive and will attack other fish.

Tiger Barb (Puntius tetrazona)
When kept in small numbers they can become agressive towards other fish in the aquarium.
