Acclimatising Marine fish and other Marine creatures

The salt levels will be different between the local aquarium store and your biOrb you must acclimatise any fish or other inhabitant properly before your add them to your aquarium. If you fail to acclimatise the fish properly you risk killing your new inhabitant. Please follow the steps below:

  1. Open the plastic bag carefully and roll down the top (don't cut it).

  2. Float the fish/invertebrate, with all the water from its bag in the top of your aquarium. The open bag will enable oxygen to reach the water surface. The bag should float.

  3. Leave the fish/invertebrate for 15min so the water temperature stabilises.

  4. Add a small amount of water from the aquarium to the bag containing the fish/ invertebrate (egg cup full). Repeat this approximately 6 times, once every 5-10 minutes.

  5. When the amount of water in the bag containing the fish/invertebrate has doubled, it should now be safe to add the inhabitant.

  6. If possible don't add the water from the bag into the aquarium (this water from the local aquarium store may introduce high levels of copper)

  7. Re-arrange the rocks after introducing the new fish. This will require all the fish to establish new territory and should result in less stressing and bullying of the new fish.

The above is a simplified guide. Remember to research the needs of the fish and invertebrates you want to stock before purchasing. Some inhabitants may require different acclimatisation.

! With proper setup, diligent patience and care, your Marine biOrb and its inhabitants will thrive.
