Do I need an anemone to keep a Clownfish?
A common misconception is that Clownfish need to have an anemone to be happy. It is true that in the ocean clownfish use the anemone (Heteractis magnifica) as a protector against predators however in the Reef One aquariums there is little need for this protection. Even if an anemone is introduced into an aquarium which has captive bred Clownfish they don’t always decide to live in it, often preferring other places in the aquarium.
